Our Eagle Scouts

Troop 334 is very proud of our long history of our boys who have earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank — Eagle Scout. The designation “Eagle Scout” was founded over one hundred years ago. Only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process.

The requirements necessary to achieve this rank take years to fulfill: Eagle Scout may be earned by a Boy Scout who has been a Life Scout for at least six months, has earned a minimum of 21 merit badges, has demonstrated Scout Spirit, and has demonstrated leadership within his troop; additionally he must plan, develop, and lead a service project — the Eagle Scout Service Project — that demonstrates both leadership and a commitment to duty. After requirements are met, he must complete an Eagle Scout board of review.

This is a significant lifetime achievement shared by 38th President of the United States Gerald Ford, at least 40 astronauts including Neil Armstrong, Pulitzer Prize winners, Supreme Court justices, Medal of Honor recipients, professional athletes, religious leaders, and more.

When a Scout stands as an Eagle Scout, he stands with great distinction alongside some of the greatest heroes of our nation.

Troop 334’s first Eagle Scout was Edward Ketter in 1945. Since then, we have worked hard to help guide SEVENTY Boy Scouts from Troop 334 earn their Eagle Scout. This is an extraordinary number, representing a level of commitment and leadership for our Scouts that is simply not found in many Boy Scout troops today.
