Scoutmaster David and the 334 leadership lead the Troop during summer camp the week of July 8th-14th at Resica Falls Scout Reservation. This was David’s 20th year in charge! The troop took fourteen boys to this year’s camp earning 35 merit badges as well as getting a number of requirements done in 17 more badges. Nyjay, one of our new scouts, took part in Resica Rangers where he became a stronger swimmer and completed a number of requirements in Tenderfoot, 2nd class, and 1st class. Four of the older scouts took part in the camp wide Apache Challenge. Jacob came in 2nd place in the camp! Nick and Jimmy, who were nominated for the Order of Arrow earlier in the year, completed their Ordeals during the week and were inducted into the OA on Thursday night during a fire call out ceremony. Kyle sealed his OA bond by becoming a Brotherhood member. The troop had great weather during the week, not to hot and only a little spritz of rain one night. Definitely different from last year. Most notable for the week was the lack of need for an Emergency Department run, thank goodness. During the week the leaders completed a number of certifications as well, one even completed the coffee drinking merit badge (substituting coffee with tea). The Scouts had a great time exploring the camp, playing basketball, Gaga, and for the senior scouts… the yearly Older Scout vs Leaders Game of Risk challenge. Big thanks to Sue Wienand, Cheryl & Fury Colubriale, Bill & Mary Dunn, Donald Dunn, Rob Ross, and Lou Springer who all helped one way or another to allow these fourteen boys have a great experience at this year at summer camp. The countdown is on for another great experience next year!
